Kanika Kapoor returns to concerts after a year at the Godiva Music Festival in London; she is now looking forward to a US and Canada tour with Guru Randhawa early next year

After months of no studio recordings and live concerts, Kanika Kapoor recently resumed live concerts amid the ongoing pandemic. She was the headliner of the Indian group at the Godiva Music Festival in London in front of 60,000 music lovers.

Sharing her experience, the singer said, “I hadn’t played for over a year. Coming back on stage made me nervous, like I was performing for the first time. The audience was really excited because they came to a concert after a long time. “

The 43-year-old adds: “Apart from my other sets, I mashup all of my songs. Indian music with rhythm is loved and accepted everywhere.

In the coming months, Kapoor hopes that live concerts will resume in India as well. She is looking forward to a tour planned for next year. “We have started private shows like weddings and parties in India, but I don’t know when the live concerts will start. I’m touring the US and Canada with Guru Randhawa in a few months. This will be the first tour with Indian artists in the West, ”she said.

After delivering kicks like Doll (Ragini MMS 2; 2014), Chittiyan Kalaiyaan (Roy; 2015) and Desi Look (Ek Paheli Leela; 2015), the singer now wants to focus on melodious numbers. “I’ve been branded, but that’s going to start to change now, because I’m trying my hand at various genres. The softer, more romantic songs force me to sing using a different technique and voice. I want to make a lot more melody and bring finesse to it, ”concludes Kapoor.
