SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – The San Diego Symphony brings some holiday magic to its all-new Waterfront Shell Theater.

The open-air hall will host limited tickets for three special concerts this month, including:

  • Noel Noel @ The Rady Shell | Fri Dec 10; Sat 11 Dec .; and Sun 12 Dec
  • The Muppets Christmas Carol – In Concert | Sat 18 Dec
  • Disney’s Frozen in Concert | Wed 22 Dec

“We’ve taken all of our indoor concerts outside because we can in San Diego,” said Symphony Orchestra CEO Martha Gilmer.

Gilmer said people also feel safer outside during large-scale events at full capacity. Although the symphony had to postpone its inaugural season at the Rady Shell due to the pandemic, it was able to begin concerts in person this year.

“The first place they could really come together and feel at ease was the stage that had just ended. See and feel this great feeling of coming back and joy. Absolute joy,” said Gilmer.

The concerts will cater to families and children, with new menu options to celebrate the season, whether on a picnic blanket or table service:

  • Children’s Vacation Menu (Marina + San Diego Row Sections)
    • Includes grilled four cheese sandwich, quesadilla carne asada, chicken wings and more
  • Holiday menu for children (on order)
    • Kitchens for Good Holiday Cookies
    • Achilles Coffee mint hot chocolate
  • Blais by the Bay Fixed Price Menu (Sections Marina + San Diego Row)
    • Includes a grain and green salad, Faroe Island salmon and a decadent chia seed pudding with spicy apples
  • Hot Toddy or Candy Cane Vodka from beverage stations

Concerts start at 5 p.m. and tickets range from $ 25 to $ 95 and are available to purchase online here.

Anyone planning to attend an outdoor concert is reminded to bring a blanket, gloves or jacket, as there will be no heat lamps in the seating area.
