The Monarch Continues Its Plan To Become A Top-Notch Indoor Concert Hall After Brue’s Show | News, Sports, Jobs

Last week Sammy Brue’s new band Brue performed their first gig in Ogden with the support of Imag! Nary Friendz and future.exboyfriend. The high-energy show was one of the first of its kind at the Monarch, and there will be more to come to the venue for all ages.

The concert took place in the Royal Hall, the largest event space in the building, located on the top floor at the top of a still existing ramp inside the covered garage from the 1920s. The stage was set up in the center of the west wall, with a north side bar stocked with craft beers and seltzer for attendees over 21, and seating along the east wall and south windows. A spacious standing area in front of the stage was packed with people for the duration of the show.

Event organizer for Brue’s concert, Rick Westover, was happy with the turnout Thursday and looks forward to seeing more concerts at the Monarch. “It was nice to see young children enjoying a beautiful concert hall,” he said.

After Westover, a longtime supporter of live music, saw the snOwFOAM 2020 concert with Amy Helm, presented by Ogden Friends of Acoustic Music at the Monarch, he wanted to help bring more live music to the venue, but COVID-19 canceled those plans. Now Westover and the entire Monarch team are excited about what’s to come very soon.

The Monarch recently invested in the sound and lighting system to enhance the concert experience in the Royal Hall. Caleb Wendt, owner of UTaudio and sound engineer for The Monarch, who directed sound for Brue’s show, said the show went well given the direction The Monarch is taking with improving the control of the sound of the room and with the bands that brought “such a great atmosphere and energy to the room.

“As an engineer it can be so deflating when bands aren’t doing their best. But these guys put Ogden’s music in the spotlight, ”Wendt said. “I still have their music in my head.”

It was an experience to see three promising groups, all of which have many fans, perform in an Ogden hall where their young fans can attend. There was a lot of excitement about having a new room that all ages can enjoy as well as the lighting, setup and sound enhancement in the room.

“The royal hall is difficult to mix, but doable,” Wendt said. “I’m excited to move on to the next phase of production in the Royal Room as we install sound processing to help control the abrasive frequencies. “

After the positive feedback from the Brue show, The Monarch team is moving fast with plans to bring in more shows. Musicians, producers and spectators are delighted to have an indoor concert hall for all ages in the Ogden area.
