In the month we celebrate romance, Rembrandt Chamber Musicians, Chicago’s premier ensemble focused on new classical and adventurous chamber music works, will be holding their next concert, Schumann’s Tale, live Friday, February 4 at 7:30 p.m. at The Cliff Dwellers in Chicago and Sunday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m. at Nichols Concert Hall in Evanston.
In Schumann’s Tale, Rembrandt brings to light one of the great love stories of music. Exchanging notes and meeting in secret, Robert and Clara were married in defiance of Clara’s father. Their romance, marked by intense passion and tragedy, has become an enduring testament to the inspiring power of love!
Rembrandt’s Artistic Director, John Macfarlane, will be joined by some of Chicago’s finest musicians to perform some of Clara’s and Robert Schumann’s musical masterpieces, played side by side. Guest artists include pianist Victor Asunción; Chicago Symphony Orchestra flautist Jennifer Gunn; Assistant Professor of Clarinet at the Butler School of Music, Jonathan Gunn; and Black Oak Ensemble members Aurélien Pederzoli, viola, and David Cunliffe, cello.
