Sullivan Family Concert Tickets On Sale Now

Tickets are available now for the Tim Sullivan Family Benefit Concert on Saturday, November 6 at 7 p.m. at the Durango Arts Center Theater featuring the musical talents of three remarkably talented members of the Sullivan family, as well as two other special guests.

Broadway in the Rockies is the theme of this year’s cabaret-style event, the eighth Sullivan Family Benefit Concert.

All proceeds from the concert are donated to the Jim and Elizabeth Sullivan Foundation for the Arts to provide scholarships to deserving local youth with a talent for music, dance or the visual arts in Archuleta and La counties. Plata.

Local scholars
Several youth in Pagosa Springs have benefited from scholarships from the Sullivan Foundation. They include members of the Pagosa Springs Girls Choir, Kathleen Isberg piano student Jovanka Ponce de Leon, and Venita Burch voice student Gustavo Palma and piano student Mark Holladay.

Concert performers
The concert headliner will be Tim’s sister, KT Sullivan. She is the star of numerous Broadway productions and an internationally renowned singer and recording artist.

KT has performed in several venues across the United States, including Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Spoleto Festival, and Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, as well as London, China, and Australia. Her theater credits include Broadway where she played the role of Marilyn Monroe’s Loralei in “Gentlemen Prefer Blondes” and she performed and tangoed with Sting in “Threepenny Opera”. KT was a guest star on Garrison Keillor’s “Prairie Home Companion” and was twice named one of the Top 100 Irish Americans by Irish America magazine.

Tim Sullivan is well known in Pagosa Springs for his many local performances when the dance floor is packed with people doing the Texas two-step and line dances to his music, both original and covers of big names like George. Jones and the Eagles. Tim has performed in seven countries. He has also performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall, and has been a featured artist with country stars such as Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Vince Gill, Glen Campbell and Tammy Wynette.

In addition to Tim and KT, their mother, Elizabeth Sullivan, comes from Oklahoma to perform. A brilliant singer, songwriter and pianist, Elizabeth is the matriarch of this accomplished musical family. When they were young, her eight children formed the Sullivan Family Gospel Singers with their mother, from whom they learned classical piano and singing as a child.

Tim and his family have performed four times in concert at Carnegie Hall. Their latest performance was featured on NBC’s “Today Show” and NBC Nightly News.

Also on stage are award-winning singer and recording artist Natalie Douglas as well as jazz pianist and songwriter Jon Weber, former host of Piano Jazz on NPR. Douglas and Weber both have impressive performance credits in the US and around the world and wowed Durango fans at previous Sullivan family benefit concerts.

COVID Ticket Information and Precautions

Due to COVID restrictions and out of caution for the performers in the concert and the audience, the Sullivans are following the precautions recommended by the CDC and Broadway due to the growing number of cases of Delta variants. Proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 72 hours will be required via email to purchase tickets. In addition, only half of the theater’s 250 seats will be occupied to ensure social distancing.

Presenting proof of vaccination at the time of ticket purchase or digital submission of a negative COVID test before the concert will allow attendees to avoid queues at the event. Tests can be obtained free of charge from the San Juan Basin Department of Health and results are provided online.

Master classes available
During their stay, these talented musicians will host masterclasses for local artists of school and high school age who wish to benefit from their knowledge and experience. Sessions will be held at the Durango Arts Center on Friday, November 5 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, November 6 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $ 25 and scholarships are available through the Sullivan Foundation. One of the master class attendees will be chosen to receive a scholarship from the Sullivan Foundation to perform in New York next year. The talented Allora Leonard of Pagosa was the 2018 winner. She performed at the International Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center in New York City.
