SISTERS, Ore. (KTVZ) — My Own Two Hands, the annual celebration of the arts and a major fundraiser for the Sisters Folk Festival, will officially kick off Friday, April 22 during the Fourth Friday Art Stroll in Sisters.

This year’s event, now in its 21st year, includes an art walk, public art reveal, free concert and in-person auction as part of the city-wide celebration of the arts. the community.

Events continue on Friday April 29 with the Community Arts Celebration and Saturday April 30 with the MOTH Art Auction and Party. This year’s auction and art party will wrap up the weekend with a hybrid virtual and in-person auction and fun hands-on activities.

The Friday and Saturday evening events will take place under a tent at SFF headquarters and in the open air, Sisters Art Works.

Funds raised through MOTH support SFF’s arts and music education and programming initiatives in schools and the Sisters’ community.

This year’s theme, “Going Beyond,” expresses a collective desire to celebrate our common humanity and renew bonds by coming together through music, art and community building. Visual artists still have time to contribute to art! The final deadline for donating artwork is March 11 to allow time for prize selection, professional photography, media promotion and announcements on our virtual platforms.

The first opportunity to see MOTH’s artwork in person will be April 22 at the Sisters Arts Association’s Fourth Friday Art Walk. Artwork will be displayed at the Cindy & Duncan Campbell Gallery, located inside the Sisters Art Works building at 204 W. Adams Ave., and at select galleries and businesses across the city. Participating MOTH art accommodation locations will be posted on the SFF website in April. The art will be on site until April 25. Online auctions will go live on April 22 and will continue until the evening of April 30.

On Friday, April 29, the free community arts celebration at Sisters Art Works will feature student performers and the unveiling of a glass sculpture garden created by Sisters Middle School art students, in collaboration with glass artist Susie Zeitner. Live music from Seattle-based modern funk/soul band True Loves will begin at 7 p.m. with food and drink available for purchase. Information about the Fourth Friday Sisters Community Art Walk is available at www.sistersartsassociation.org.

The final event in the art celebration will be the My Own Two Hands Art Auction and Party, “Moving Beyond” on April 30. The event will be a hybrid in-person and virtual art auction (all bidding conducted electronically), and live music. In addition to the auction and concert, the event will celebrate donating artists, their work, and the creative economy of Sisters by providing a framework to strengthen and grow the visual and performing arts scene in the central Oregon. Tickets for the art auction and party go on sale March 1 and cost $90/person (dinner and drinks are included); contributing artists will receive free tickets.

A staple of MOTH is the raffle of a custom, handcrafted 000-12 MA acoustic guitar built right here in Sisters by the nationally renowned luthiers of Preston Thompson Guitars. Raffle tickets are set to go on sale April 1; only 400 will be sold at $25 each.

The COVID-19 landscape is changing rapidly. In response to the current steep decline in COVID-19 cases, SFF will not require proof of vaccination to attend any of the My Own Two Hands activities. The event will comply with all state or county health measures in place at the time of the event. If no statewide mask mandate is in effect, masking will be optional and up to individual attendees.
