Coachella Crossroads, an outdoor venue in Indio, announced a New Years extravaganza with great basketball player Shaquille O’Neal, in her record-breaking character, DJ Diesel, and rapper Saweetie.

Tickets go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 29.

The show could run for nearly six hours, starting at 8 p.m. and ending before 2 a.m., according to a press release. It will include a countdown to midnight followed by fireworks.

Other featured artists include E-40 and Getter, as well as aerials, waders, live painters, and live loops, who record and add layers of sound to a performance in real time.

The event will feature installations from Los Angeles-based Do Lab, which has provided striking visuals for the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in nearby Indio for several years.

Coachella Crossroads is owned by the Mission Twenty-Nine Palms Indian Band. It adjoins Spotlight 29 Casino, another tribal business.

The tribe inaugurated the 47-acre property in 2018, envisioning a space that could be used for outdoor concerts, car shows, soccer fields, private events such as quinceañeras, and temporary accommodation for music festivals on other sites. The Coachella Music Festival in Indio and its sister event, the Stagecoach Country Music Festival, are slated to take place in April after skipping 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Coachella Crossroads debuted with a Toby Keith concert in May, before California lifted its COVID-19 restrictions, and then hosted a fireworks show on July 4.

He had two events on his calendar for September but postponed them, citing concerns over COVID. One of the events, a two-day Mexican Independence Day festival, has been postponed to May. The other, a Miranda Lambert concert, has not yet been rescheduled.

Shortly after these events were postponed, Spotlight 29 announced a series of indoor concerts from October through December in its 2,200-seat showroom. Through its spokesperson, the tribe said small indoor concerts were safer than an outdoor performance of 10,000 people.

There is a safety message on the Coachella Crossroads website that reads, “As the event date approaches, we will be providing our community with relevant information on concert preparation, including what may be needed. beyond a ticket to enter the festival grounds. ”

The New Years concert is currently the only event on the Coachella Crossroads website.
