The Queen is due to celebrate her Platinum Jubilee in June with a four-day bank holiday weekend.

The weekend, which will start on Thursday June 2 and end on Sunday June 5, will see several events taking place involving members of the royal family.

These include Trooping the Colour, a Thanksgiving Service, Platinum Beacons, a Platinum Jubilee Contest and a Star-Studded Concert.

However, the RMT union today announced strike action planned for the weekend which will affect passengers wishing to travel on the Victoria, Jubilee and Piccadilly lines.

Meanwhile, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall have started their three-day tour of Canada, where they represent the Queen – one of several recent appearances to highlight Prince Charles’ increased presence at the head of the family. Royal in the light of the mobility problems and advanced age of the monarch.

While the Queen has mostly made virtual appearances so far this year due to ongoing mobility issues, as she prepares for the Jubilee weekend, Her Majesty has started making more in-person appearances .

Tiktokers have fun with the blue and red “jubilee fish and chips”

A chip shop in Wales has gone viral on TikTok after posting its take on a platinum jubilee special fish and chips.

Crisp and Fry, a chain of chip shops in Llanelli and Ammanford, created the dish in the colors of the Union Jack flag by adding blue and red food coloring to the batter.

But many on the social media platform found the colorful twist on a British classic too much to digest.

“Immediately no,” one person said, while another joked, “Police have been notified.”

A third warned the chip shop that “my therapist will hear about it,” and a fourth said, “Thank you, Queen is crying now.”

Giant slide arrives at Tower of London to celebrate Platinum Jubilee

One in three Britons think the Queen should retire

A third of Britons believe the Queen should retire and let her son, the Prince of Wales, take over after missing a string of in-person events due to mobility issues.

A new YouGov survey has revealed a stark shift in public opinion over whether the Queen should remain as head of state for the rest of her life.

Prince Charles and Camilla to feature in EastEnders Jubilee special
