Outdoor summer concerts are back in Hendersonville

The summer season is heating up with three very different outdoor concert series held at the Visitor Center in downtown Hendersonville at 201 S. Main St.

Music fills the air under the hot starry nights as you sit back and listen to a variety of great music with your family and friends.

Discover an assortment of talented musical artists on stage at Monday Night Live! concert series. The concert series features an eclectic lineup of Latin, blues and rock. The free live performances take place on July 19, August 2, 16 and 30.

For years, people have made Music on Main a summer tradition to hear some of the best bands in the area. The concerts take place every Friday evening from July 9 to August 27. Music on Main’s lineup ranges from pop, oldies, rock to beach music.

The family event features concessions such as hot dogs, ice cream, pretzels and lemonade for sale.

Car shows are held nightly in conjunction with Music on Main. The shows attract car enthusiasts to share their passion for vintage and classic cars. Auto shows are located between Barnwell and Caswell Street, which will be closed to traffic.

The roots of Appalachian music and dance run deep in the Blue Ridge Mountains of western North Carolina and have been passed down from generation to generation. Street Dance is a beloved event that began in 1918 when the citizens of Hendersonville took to the streets to welcome World War I soldiers to their homes.

Young and old alike come to the Visitor Center at 201 Main Street South in downtown Hendersonville to enjoy bluegrass music, square dancing and sabotage on 12, 26, 9 and 23 August. making people follow dance figures during square dances.

Square dancing is a fun recreational activity for the whole family. Square dancing provides an opportunity to encourage and inspire future generations to appreciate popular culture and its traditions.

Special appearances from area patching teams make for an entertaining and thrilling evening. A special block party on Main includes the Ingles Down Home tour with Joe Lasher, Kaitlyn Baker and Commodore Fox on Saturday, July 31. These popular country music artists will perform on the Visitor Center stage from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Please bring a non-perishable food item to donate to The Storehouse Pantry. This free, ticket-free event is open to the public. See the Visitor Center website for more details, visithendersonvillenc.org. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair.

Concessions such as hot dogs, ice cream, pretzels and lemonade are available for sale. The seating area opens after 5:30 p.m. early admission is prohibited. No alcoholic beverages, rucksacks or coolers are allowed.

In case of bad weather, the concert will be postponed until 8 p.m. if the weather does not improve by that time, the show will be canceled.

There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy outdoor concerts in the Hendersonville area this summer. The Summer Music Series brochure will be available at the Visitor Center next week so you don’t miss out on your favorite band. It features schedules for Music on Main, Monday Night Live, Street Dance, Rhythm & Brews and classic car shows.
