With parties off the calendar for another carnival season, a popular party and mas brand is giving customers a reason to go out and have fun.

IIlusions, promoters of the Black to Blue party brand, will host an event concert at the Naparima Bowl amphitheater called Black to Blue Live.

Fram Baboolal, co-director of the Illusions committee, told Loop News that the outdoor seated event will feature soca, chutney and casserole as well as DJ interludes during a three-hour show. Rome will host the event.

“It’s a concert type event in a safe area that’s allowed. We’re just trying to do something for people mainly. Everyone misses the carnival, so we decided to keep doing a show. We serve 450 people based on 50% capacity,” Baboolal said.

Last year, Illusions hosted the virtual Black to Blue Backyard Jam which featured performances by soca artists. Baboolal said it was about keeping the brand alive, but also doing what they could under the current circumstances.

“Over the past two years it has been difficult for us financially and what has helped us organize these events are our sponsors, they have all more or less agreed to join us. For us too, it’s that Black to Blue is our biggest local and regional event, and we saw it as if we had to do whatever we should. We believe in existing in what is happening in the world right now,” he said.

Black to Blue Live will include pre-packaged meals and customers will also have the option to purchase pre-packaged coolers with beverages which they can pick up on site and enjoy seated.

The event will be broadcast via Digicel at a later date, but for those unable to attend, a live pay-per-view option is being considered.

Black to Blue Live will take place on February 11. Tickets are $250 (early bird) and $300.
