The events to celebrate the Christmas holidays are plentiful this week now that the Thanksgiving holidays are over. The festivities include everything from concerts and tree lights to parades and stage performances. For a quieter activity, candlelight tours are offered to the Boyhood Home of Woodrow Wilson as well as the 33rd Annual North Augusta Christmas Homes Tour.
Holiday concerts
The 3 redneck tenors present their SPEC-TAC-YULE-AR Christmas concert of “classic, pop and fried†musical delights. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. on December 2 at the Auditorium Hardin. Get tickets at augustaamusements.com.
Christian music artists Casting Crowns, Mac Powell, Cain, Dante Bowen and Jordan St. Cyr will take the stage at the Bell Auditorium for the KLove Christmas Tour 2021 presents a concert at 7 p.m. on December 3. Tickets start at $ 25.50 at aectix.com.
On Saturday December 4, Augusta Choral Society will present Handel’s Messiah with accompaniment by the Lyra Vivace Orchestra. The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. at Saint Paul’s Church in downtown Augusta. Tickets are available on augustacs.org and will be available at the door.
Joye in Aiken brings her very first “Joy to the world! »Holiday Concert at USC Aiken Etherredge Center at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 5. Tree lights
Augusta’s annual Christmas tree lighting and fireworks show is held in downtown Augusta Common on Saturday 4th December. Activities start at 4 p.m. and include things like train rides, inflatables, and photos with Santa. The tree will be illuminated at dusk and will be followed by fireworks.
Several other cities are hosting tree lighting events this week.
- North Augusta Tree lighting: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, Calhoun Park, 798 Georgia Ave.
- Fort Gordon Tree Lighting and Festival: Thursday, December 2 at 4 p.m., Barton Field; stay for crafts, treats, bonfire, and shows.
- Aiken tree lighting: 6 p.m. Friday, December 3, Park Avenue and Newberry Street SW, downtown; guests can enjoy music, crafts and a visit from Santa
- Grovetown will light its tree for a festival from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, December 4 at Liberty Park Community Center. Visitors can take photos with Santa Claus, do crafts, and shop with vendors.
Christmas parades
And who doesn’t love a parade?
- Grovetown presents its 47th annual holiday parade from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, December 4. The procession begins on Horizon South Parkway.
- from Edgefield the parade begins at 3 p.m. on Sunday, December 5, downtown.
- The Columbia County The Christmas Parade is set for 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 5 at Evans Towne Center. The festivities continue with the Evans on Ice pop-up rink nearby, photos with Santa from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and a holiday market from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m.
- North Augusta The Lions Club hosts the annual Christmas Parade from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 5 on Georgia Avenue.
- Augusta will hold its holiday parade the second weekend in December, starting at 6 p.m. on Saturday, December 11, along Broad Street.
- The city center Aiken The Christmas Parade begins at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 12 on Barnwell Avenue and Laurens Street NW, then descends on Park Avenue.

Holiday home visits
The Childhood home of President Woodrow Wilson is decorated for the holidays to show visitors what Christmas was like in the 1860s before, during and after the Civil War. In December, full-day guided tours are offered Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to Wilson House costs $ 5 for adults, $ 4 for seniors, and $ 3 for K-12 students. Children 5 and under are free.
For two nights – December 3 and 4 – special candlelight tours will be offered every 30 minutes from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Admission to the candlelight tour is $ 10 for adults or $ 5 for adults. kindergarten to grade 12 students. The 33rd Annual North Augusta Christmas Home Tour returns after an absence in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Candlelight tours will take place from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on December 3; day tours are from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on December 4. The tour includes stops at the River Club, Campbelltown Landing, The Colony, and Woodstone, as well as the historic Charles Hammond House on Martintown Road and The Arts and Heritage Center.

The RUNAugusta running club is organizing a Santa’s Pub Race December 3 at 6 p.m. in downtown Augusta. Adults will dress like natives of the North Pole and run from bar to bar the three-mile stretch, enjoying drinks and the night air.
The Augusta History Museum hosts a elf special event on the shelf on December 4th at 11:30 am and 12:30 pm, Mrs. Claus will read the story “Elf on the Shelf†on their cart. Next, the guests will chase Ginger the Scout Elf who will be hidden among the items on display.
University of South Carolina Aiken’s DuPont Planetarium brings back its The mystery of the Christmas star spectacle. Guests will discover a scientific explanation of the star that led the biblical sages to the birthplace of Jesus Christ. The shows take place every Saturday until December 28 at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The planetarium is located at the Ruth Patrick Science Education Center on University Parkway in Aiken. After two show dates postponed, Chicago is scheduled to perform at 8 p.m. on December 7 at the Bell Auditorium. Tickets purchased for the dates of May 9 and December 8, 2020 will be honored. Southern Lights is open until December 31st with over 5 million colored lights to dazzle visitors. You can see them via a walking path or a hay walk. Photos with Santa Claus are also available.
