If the barns are the heart of Southwest Washington’s fair, the milieu is its central nervous system.

And at night, during this year’s showcase, the midway will come alive with free musical performances from a range of local and regional singers and bands.

“Grab something good to eat – dinner or dessert each night – and sit on the Midway stage, located near the carnival entrance,” encourage show organizers. “See the lights, the crowds and all the truly wonderful music from our ‘Midway Stage at Night’ bands for a great fair night!”

The group Still Got It is the first to start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 16. The fair describes the group as “a group of established, seasoned veteran musicians with incredible energy and chemistry on stage.” Their talents span a wide variety of styles and genres, from the Beatles to Robben Ford to John Mayer.

On Wednesday, August 17, The Rowes will take the stage at 7:30 p.m.

“The Rowes are the most famous band to ever come out of Elba, Washington!” depending on the fair. “Rumpy country type music the way they like it in Elba, Mineral and Salkum.”

Nick and the Underdogs will bring their mix of pop, blues and original tunes to the Midway Stage at 7 p.m. on Thursday, August 18. The Seattle-based band are stopping over as part of their summer tour.

At 8 p.m. on Friday, August 19, Sucker Punched will take the stage.

“A tribute to fun 80s hair bands and a fabulous local light show. These guys are more fun than the 80s ever were,” a fairground organizer wrote of the band.

Midway Stage’s final free show will be hosted by Sean Lewis, the Western Drifter. The show starts at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 20. Lewis will bring original songs, country favorites and even a bit of Elvis.

Following Lewis’ performance, the stage will open to the community as karaoke takes place from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.
