BRISTOL, Tennessee (WJHL) – Country artist Morgan Wallen took the stage in Bristol on Saturday night for his Country Thunder Bristol concert.

Despite the rain, it is clear that the weather did not dampen the excitement of the fans. Fans said they were delighted to welcome the East Tennessee birthplace and have a great night’s sleep.

“I’m just excited to see him play my favorite song,” said Karsyn Gibson, a spectator.

The concert festivities started early with performances by Granger Smith with Earl Dibble Jr., Larry Fleet, Jon Langston and Ernest.

Fans said they were grateful to be able to witness such a big event again after a year and a half of COVID-19 cancellations.

“We waited until the concerts came back and the stadiums reopened and you know the whole last year really couldn’t do anything,” fan Bryson Tolley said. “But now we’re having a good time, enjoying it, making the most of it. “

Tolley, a resident of Erwin, and his friends were among thousands camping out, getting ready and getting ready for the big concert featuring East Tennessee.

“We’re proud, we’re proud of him, you know,” Tolley said. “I had a few buddies who played golf every now and then in Blackthorn. You know we love to see one of our guys succeed.

For Maddex Artrip, tonight marks his very first concert. Tickets for the concert sold out within minutes.

“I was really excited, we didn’t think we were going to get tickets on time,” Artrip said. “I was really excited that we got it on time. “
