Exit from the Alerus Center:

North Carolina country star Luke Combs performed to a full house at the Alerus Center in Grand Forks, ND, earlier this month. Combs, whose first single “Hurricane” was released just four years ago, set a new record for ticket sales in the 22,000-seat venue, shattering the previous record held by country superstar George Strait. The new record for tickets sold at the Alerus Center is 21,752, an astonishing figure for a place located in a city of less than 60,000 inhabitants.

Alerus Center has hosted several big names over its twenty year history, including the aforementioned Strait of George as well as stars like Cher, Britney Spears, Metallica and KISS. Despite heavyweight competition, Combs broke the record within thirty days of the tickets going on sale to the public. In addition to breaking the record for ticket sales, Combs also set new records for attendance and alcohol sales. Metallica held the previous record for alcohol sales and still holds the record for merchandise sales – they are fourth overall behind Cher, George Strait and Luke Combs.

“We couldn’t be more grateful to work with AEG Presents and the Luke Combs Tour on this record breaking event. It was truly an unforgettable evening, ”said Anna Rosburg, CEO of the Alerus center. “Our mission is to provide top-notch entertainment and events that drive economic impact and improve the quality of life for the citizens of the Grand Forks area. This event had a significant impact on our community on both fronts. Working with data from Visit Greater Grand Forks and Destinations International, it was determined that over 90% of Luke Combs attendees were from out of town and contributed over $ 1,500,000 in direct spending to the local economy, more than 2,500,000 in economic impact figures. It was truly a victory for Alerus Center and the region and we are delighted with the results. “

Luke Combs is now heading west, his tour making stops in Oregon, California and New Mexico over the next several weeks. Meanwhile, Alerus Center is expecting a highly anticipated Eric Church concert on October 1.st, immediately followed by a sold-out UND vs NDSU football game on October 2sd.
