The Columbus Symphony will perform the musical score for the fifth film “Harry Potter”, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix”, at the Palace Theater.

The Columbus Association for Performing Arts will present “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix in Concert” on April 2, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. and April 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. The film will be shown on a 40-foot screen while the Columbus Symphony plays the film’s soundtrack. The “Harry Potter” concert series was announced in 2016, and since then, more than 2.7 million fans have experienced the event, according to the website.

Rich Corsi, the association’s vice president of programming, said it will be the fifth concert in the “Harry Potter” series at the Palace Theater due to its huge success with previous films.

“You just forget that there are 75 people on stage playing because you’re so engrossed in the movies and the music is so beautiful,” Corsi said.

The association has a long history with the Columbus Symphony, together presenting a “Harry Potter” film every 12 to 14 months, Corsi said.

“We made the first movie – a huge success,” Corsi said. “So we tried numbers 2, 3, 4 and now we’re on the fifth movie. We have already added a second show because the first show was almost sold out.

Corsi said that many entrants return each year for subsequent film installments due to the love fans and musicians have for the series.

“’Harry Potter’ already has some really cool music, so hearing a symphony play it live would be great,” said Elliott Brown, a freshman in arts management.

Brown said she came from a large family of “Harry Potter” fans, herself included. She said the concert tickets were the perfect Christmas present for her family members.

“Especially during the holiday season, if you have a ‘Harry Potter’ fan, my God, there is no better gift,” Corsi said. “It’s just amazing; you go there knowing that you will be with a few thousand people who love the same thing as you love.

Tickets for the concert can be purchased on the association‘s website, in person at the CBUSArts box office or by phone.
