ASO concert postponed due to change of venue

First, the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra had to reschedule its January 29-30 Masterworks concert pairing, out of an abundance of caution due to Omicron’s covid-19 surge, to April 30-May 1.

Now the orchestra is reporting that the Robinson Center Performance Hall will not be available for the rescheduled concerts. They will instead take place at 7:30 p.m. on April 30 and 3 p.m. on May 1 at the Maumelle Performing Arts Centre, 100 Victory Lane, Maumelle, where the orchestra performed during the 28-month Robinson Rebuild (July 2014-November 2016) .

“The weekend we booked is the only option we had to get the driver [Andrew Crust] and guest soloist [violinist Shannon Lee] together,” says Brandon Dorris, ASO’s Marketing Director.

Lee will join the orchestra for the “Violin Concerto” in D major by Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The program will also include the “Polovtsian Dances” from the opera “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin and the “Symphony No. 9” in E flat major by Dmitri Shostakovich.

Season subscribers and individual ticket holders can indicate their seat preference for the new venue; those who do not specify will be automatically reinstalled. Dial (501) 666-1761, extension 1, or visit ArkansasSymphony.org.
