Ballet is back: The City Ballet of San Diego has released its performance schedule for the 2021-22 season, which includes several in-person productions.

The company offers these shows this season:

  • “Classics in Concert”, this fall
  • “On the Move”, also this fall
  • The holiday classic, “The Nutcracker”, in December
  • “Rhapsody in Blue”, in March 2022
  • A full production of “Don Quixote”, in spring 2022

Audiences will have the opportunity to experience the ballet live and in person as the performers return to the stage – something that simply wasn’t happening during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Spreckels Theater, the home theater of the City Ballet in San Diego, is undergoing renovations this year, but as they say, the show must go on!

Instead of performing at home, the company will present its productions in various theaters in San Diego County. Here is what it looks like:

The City Ballet’s 29th anniversary season opening production is a true program for ballet lovers and will feature three ballets by Elizabeth Wistrich, including the classic tutu ballet of “Paquita” by Marius Petipa, the enchanting “Elegies” and its fast paced “Gottschalk Festival.”
